Beginning in 1922, color theory became a central focus of the school, which was founded in Weimar in 1919—Itten, Klee, and Kandinsky were its most prominent representatives. According to Itten, colors are in balance when the eye perceives them as a unified whole and their mixture Grey a neutral Grey . Although the Bauhaus existed Bauhaus 14 years, its insights continue to shape our environment to this day.
