Oak and beech from European forests. Everything that makes our wood special, from selection to processing.
An Overview of Our Wood Options
Wood is the foundation of our furniture. It provides stability, character, and a natural charm that only improves with time. Each piece of wood has its own unique grain, color, and texture.
We use wood in many of our products, from armchairs and sofas to bases and frames, as well as in visible details that define the character of the piece of furniture. Depending on the intended use, we work with different material thicknesses—for example, 19 mm, 24 mm, or 30 mm. This ensures that our components have exactly the stability and visual impact they need.
Wood is a living material that reacts to its surroundings and continues to evolve over time. This results in furniture that not only looks good but also stands the test of time.
We deliberately choose wood species that deliver exactly that, while also being durable, sturdy, and sourced responsibly.
Oak wood, natural and durable
Natural Oak
Oak is known for its distinctive grain and high durability. It has a natural depth and develops its own patina over time.
By default, our oak is treated with a clear, water-based varnish. This protects the wood while preserving its natural look and feel.

Beech wood with a warm, even grain
Beech with walnut stain
Beech has a calm, uniform grain and is notable for its high stability. The walnut stain gives it a warm, dark color with greater depth and an elegant appearance.
There are good reasons why we’ve chosen beech over solid walnut here:
Beech is significantly more mechanically resilient, particularly due to its high bending strength and homogeneous structure. This makes it ideal for load-bearing components and structures where stability is crucial.
Genuine European walnut would be significantly more expensive or would have to be imported from other regions. With stained beech, we achieve a similar look while remaining more sustainable, more stable, and more cost-effective.
The result: a high-quality, durable solution that perfectly combines design and function.

Finishes & Customization
In addition to our standard finishes, we offer various customization options:
- Paint (water-based)
- Staining (e.g., walnut finish on beech)
- Oil treatments for an open-pored, natural finish
This way, you can tailor the look and feel of the wood to match your style perfectly.

A few words on sustainability and environmental responsibility
As you may have read elsewhere , sustainability is truly important to us. That’s why we produce on demand, avoid overproduction, and use durable materials.

What does this mean for our wood selection?
Our wood comes from certified European forests—at least FSC-certified. This ensures short transport distances and traceable origins. We deliberately choose beech and oak and do not use tropical woods.
Wood is a durable and repairable material. Should anything happen, we'll assist with repairs and provide replacement parts as needed.

FAQ
Frequently Asked Questions About Wood & Care
Can I change the interface later?
Yes. Wood can be sanded down and refinished. This keeps your furniture versatile, so it can still be adapted to new rooms or tastes even years later.
What's the best way to care for the wood on my piece of furniture?
Our finishes are chosen to make everyday life easier.
Varnished wood is particularly easy to care for: A soft, slightly damp cloth is usually sufficient. If necessary, you can use a mild cleaning agent. Avoid using harsh cleaners or abrasive materials.
Oiled surfaces can be refreshed as needed: To do so, apply a thin layer of a suitable wood oil and work it in with a soft cloth. This will preserve the natural look.
Important for all surfaces: Remove liquids as soon as possible and avoid standing water to ensure the wood remains protected over the long term.
What happens to the wood over time?
Yes—and that is precisely what makes it so special. Wood is a living material that gains character over the years. Its color tones deepen, and the surface develops character. A patina forms, making each piece of furniture more personal.
Why don't you use tropical woods?
We deliberately choose European woods with traceable origins to keep transportation distances short and ensure more sustainable production.
Is every piece of furniture the same?
No. The grain, color, and texture make each piece unique. It is precisely these subtle differences that give a piece of furniture its special charm.
