Bauhaus meets Mid-Century

"Style is not something fixed, but rather constant change." – Walter Gropius

The Bauhaus 1922 special edition of our Apollo Lounge Chair is a tribute to the colours and shapes of the Bauhaus. From 1922 onwards, colour theory became a key focus at the school founded in Weimar in 1919 – with Itten, Klee and Kandinsky as its most prominent figures. According to Itten, colours are in balance when the eye combines them into a totality and their mixture results in a neutral grey. Although the Bauhaus only existed for 14 years, its insights continue to shape our surroundings to this day.

The Apollo Lounge Chair evokes the best Mid-Century design—and not only looks great, but also offers exceptional comfort. A delicate steel spring system in the seat cushion, rubber-strap padding in the backrest, and the slim upholstery ensure optimal seating comfort. The elegantly shaped armrests, crafted from solid wood, are sanded into shape by hand, one by one, and harmonise perfectly with the chair’s minimalist lines. Available in a variety of colours and styles, it blends seamlessly into any interior design—and our Apollo Footstool is the ideal complement.

Piping

What is piping?

A piping is a visible, slightly raised seam that runs along the edges of upholstered furniture. It is sewn between two pieces of fabric or leather and accentuates lines and transitions.

In addition to its decorative effect, piping can also reinforce the seam and more clearly highlight the contours of a piece of furniture.

Effect

  • Piping usually gives a piece of furniture a more refined and classic look.
  • Without the piping, it looks simpler and more modern.

At Sternzeit Design

We use piping specifically as a stylistic element—not as a mandatory feature. The stability of our furniture is based on the overall construction, regardless of this.

Production & Delivery Time

Made Just for You

Our furniture is usually not kept in stock. As a rule, we manufacture each piece only after we receive your order—by hand in the EU and exactly in the color, upholstery fabric, and style you have chosen.

How long does it take?

  • Production usually takes 2 to 8 weeks.
  • The exact duration depends, among other things, on the model, the upholstery fabric, the type of wood used, and the current workload in our workshops.
  • As soon as your furniture is ready to ship, we'll notify you by email.
  • Shipping time depends on where the order is being shipped.

Why not right away?

Because we only begin production once a piece of furniture has been ordered, we don’t end up with inventory that nobody needs. You’ll receive a freshly made piece of furniture—not one that’s been sitting in a warehouse for months.

Warranty

5-year warranty against defects in materials, design, and workmanship

In addition to the statutory warranty, we voluntarily provide a 5-year warranty from the date of delivery—for shipments to the EU, Switzerland, Norway, and the United Kingdom.

  • Covered: Material , design, and workmanship defects, such as defective seams or unusually premature wear caused by such a defect.
  • Not covered: normal wear and tear, misuse, accidents, damage caused by animals, and improper cleaning.
  • In the event of a warranty claim: We will repair the furniture or replace the affected part at our expense. If that is not possible, you will receive an equivalent replacement; otherwise, we will refund the purchase price.
  • Here's how it works: Send an email to support@sternzeit-design.de with your order number and a brief description of the damage.

Your statutory rights remain unaffected. The warranty is free of charge for you.

What is piping?

Piping is a cord encased in a fabric strip. It is used to embellish the edge seams of upholstered furniture or cushions, while also reinforcing them and making them more durable.

Sustainability

Sustainability is a big word. Perhaps too big to use lightly. In an industry that likes to make promises, we believe in something simpler: taking responsibility for what we can actually influence. Not abstract offsets, but decisions that start right here in our workshop.

As a design manufacturer, we don’t make promises that we can’t physically verify on the other side of the world. Instead, we focus on what’s right in front of us: local integrity. Our wood is FSC-certified, our supply chains are short, and our production takes place right here at home. We don’t plant imaginary trees—we build furniture that lasts.
