About

The Retrostar Footstool Edition combines practical comfort with expressive art. The exclusive fabric cover was Sternzeit Design by Berlin-based artist Wolfgang Kaliga for Sternzeit Design . His work is characterized by mirror writing, ambiguous texts, and socially critical messages that can be deciphered using a small mirror. This transforms the footstool into a unique work of art that enriches spaces and inspires reflection.

As a complement to the armchairs in the Retrostar series, this compact footstool is perfect for relaxing breaks—just put your feet up, and you’re all set. The durable upholstery, featuring long-lasting metal springs and high-quality foam, offers pleasant comfort, while the solid wood legs are meticulously handcrafted, stained, and/or finished with a clear varnish.

Sustainability
Sustainability and environmental responsibility are central components of Sternzeit Design.

Returned furniture is refurbished rather than discarded. Fabric Samples hand-cut from fabric scraps to minimize waste.

All fabrics are certified to at least the Oeko-Tex Standard 100 and are REACH-compliant. All leather carries at least the Blue Angel eco-label. The materials come from selected manufacturers in Germany, Italy, Poland, and Portugal.

What is Piping?
Piping a visible, slightly raised seam edging found on upholstered furniture.
It is sewn between two pieces of fabric or leather and accentuates lines and transitions.

In addition to its decorative effect, Piping can also reinforce Piping seam and more clearly highlight the contours of a piece of furniture.

We work primarily with beech and oak because they reflect our philosophy on furniture: authentic materials, local sourcing, and long-term durability.

Instead of imported tropical woods, we focus on wood that grows closer to home and meets our standards for quality and durability.

What is piping?
