sustainability
Sustainability and environmental responsibility are central components of Sternzeit Design .

Returned furniture is refurbished, not disposed of. Fabric samples are cut by hand from fabric scraps to avoid waste.

All fabrics are certified according to at least Oeko-Tex Standard 100 and are REACH compliant. All leathers bear at least the Blue Angel ecolabel. The materials are sourced from selected manufacturers in Germany, Italy, Poland, and Portugal.

What is a keder?
A piping is a visible, slightly raised seam border on upholstered furniture.
It is sewn between two fabric or leather surfaces and emphasizes lines and transitions.

In addition to its design effect, a piping can further stabilize the seam and highlight the contours of a piece of furniture more clearly.

Effect
A piece of furniture with piping usually looks more precise and classic.
Without the piping, it appears calmer and more modern.

Why we use beech and oak
We mainly work with beech and oak because they reflect how we think about furniture: honest materials, regional origin and long-term durability.

Instead of imported tropical woods, we focus on wood that grows closer to us and meets our requirements for quality and durability.
